Feedtruck Operator

Purpose of Role

To provide accurate and timely feed to cattle whilst maintaining feeding equipment and machinery in excellent working order.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Working under the general guidance and support of the Mill and Feeding Manager, the Feed Truck Operator will undertake the following responsibilities in a professional manner:

• Carry out all aspects of feed preparation, delivery and controls for cattle.
• Operate feed trucks and feeding equipment to achieve accurate and timely delivery of feed to cattle.
• Perform daily pre-operational checks on feeding machinery.
• Ensure all feeding machinery and equipment is well maintained to a high standard.
• Assist with commodity storage, receival and processing.
• Ensure commodity sheds are kept in a neat, tidy and hygienic manner.
• Perform accurate entry of feeding data.
• Assist with daily bunk calls and carryout regular bunk sweeping and shovelling as required.
• Maintain compliance with Barmount Feedlot policies and procedures, including but not limited to quality assurance, workplace health and safety, animal welfare and environmental obligations.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Experience in operating trucks and other machinery.
• Basic computer skills, becoming competent in Livestock Junction, Digistar Datalink and MaintainX systems.
• Ability to work unsupervised and in a team environment.
• Ability to organise and prioritise tasks and meet deadlines and targets, whilst working under pressure.
• High level of initiative and attention to detail.
